On this episode of Pages and Panels I am joined by the insanely talented artist Johnnie Christmas. Johnny came on to break down issue seven of his Image comic book, Sheltered.Sheltered is written by Ed Brisson, drawn by Johnnie and colored by Shari Chankhamma.Sheltered is the story of a group of kids who are raised in a preppers community called Safe Haven. When some of the children learn of the possibility a super volcano is about to go off they enact their plan to kill all the adults to better survive the coming storm. Sheltered is all about the characters, their interactions and motivations. Johnnie is a master of conveying both intense emotional distress on one page and brutal violence and action on the next. Johnnie breaks down issue seven in the series providing insight into pacing conversations through art, creating mood, and drawing those pesky children. Thanks so much to Johnny for taking the time to talk to us and provide really great insight into his profession. Be sure to pick up the second volume of Sheltered that collects issues 6-10 dropping July 30th which will catch you up in time for issue 11 on August 20th. In the links below I have included Johnnie's issue of Murderbook as well. Follow me on twitter @kyleoverkill for requests or suggestions for that show. Thanks and enjoy!
